This is the book which has resulted from the Whixley Heritage Project carried out during 2019-20.

“WHIXLEY its history and Heritage” tells the story of the Village and its people down the centuries; a fascinating social history of our village and its inhabitants from the Middle Ages, through the Victorian period, and into the 20th century. Old photographs and stories associated with Farming, Education, local Businesses, Villagers’ occupations, the impact of the Parish Church, and the many Recreational activities provide a colourful and captivating account of village life that has since been superseded by the industrial and technical revolutions of more recent years.

William Newton was born and bred in Whixley and has recently received a BA in Ancient History from The University of Birmingham. Having returned home to study the Law, William has also set his efforts to collate a wide variety of contributions from villagers and historical sources in order to provide a vivid and absorbing portrayal of community life in and around Whixley.

The book is now on sale through the website shop.
