Whixley Dine-Around Report

The Bi-Annual Whixley Dine-Around celebrated 22 years of culinary and social excellence this June, when 56 parishioners from our parish met on the acclaimed lawns of The Old Vicarage at Whixley for canapés to die for accompanied by Champagne cocktails, courtesy of Roger and Biddy Marshall.

Where everyone went next was disclosed in a number of sealed envelopes; where they were going and what was on the menu was undisclosed but everyone was delighted by both their varying destinations and the food choices of their hosts.

Meeting up towards the end of the evening at the home of Clare and Jon Beckett was most successful – here we milled around eating the most scrumptious of deserts and exchanging tales of our evening’s adventurers with our friends, neighbours and some people we may not have had the pleasure of meeting before.

The fact that Rev Sarah was amongst the throng proved a great attraction as those who had only heard of her before were able to meet face-to-face. Not only that – Sarah was one of the “Pudding” contributors, proving that not only could she preach, but she was also a dab hand at producing wonderful food!
