Well, what a fabulous few nights we had at Whixley panto this year. It was a stunning rendition of Treasure Island. Those who went had a brilliant evening. If you missed this impressive performance, why not give it a try for next year? If the last 2 years are anything to go by, it will be worth the wait. Everyone deserves a mention but particular praise should go to Lynsey Farnworth who wrote, directed and performed. What tremendous commitment and imagination Lynsey showed with her witty script. Lynsey’s son Ashton age 7 also did a great job with the choreography (because Mummy’s dancing is rubbish!) There were star performances by everyone and, now that York’s Berwick Kaler has retired, the professionals need to watch out! Whixley panto is THE place to go in 2020.
A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who was involved, including the director, cast, stage, lighting and sound crew, set designers, musicians, prop managers, costume crew, front-of-house staff, ticket sellers (especially the village shop), bar staff, raffle prize donators and anyone else who played a part, however small, in this excellent annual production in the village.
In addition to being a major successful fund raiser for our wonderful village hall (this year’s production raised nearly £3,000 for Village Hall funds), the panto is also a great vehicle to bring out hidden talents for all those involved, in whatever way, and also facilitate some great teamwork and community spirit. Long may it continue!!
