Walking Football Update, August ’26

After last season’s excellent showing in the North Riding Walking Football League in which Whixley Wanderers finished runners-up, the Club now looks forward to a return to competitive action in the pre-season Riverside Cup Tournament to be held in Middlesbrough in mid-September. The NRFA Walking Football League season per se kicks-off again in October with the ever-ambitious Cherries aiming to go one step better by topping the newly formed Premier Division come May 2027.

As always, however, the Club’s overriding mission continues to be giving local adults (over 40) the opportunity to play, just for fun, a slower, less physical, but just as enjoyable version of the “beautiful game” which, in most cases, they had long since given up. Our Social sessions take place on Sunday mornings and first sessions are free for those wishing to try it out for the first time.
