If you happened to be walking by Whixley Village Hall on Tuesday 9th May, you may have heard the roar of many lions in the supper room but these were not the wild variety but the children in attendance at Tots’ Praise. Our story was from the book of Daniel in the Old Testament and it told how Daniel prayed to God 3 times every day but how some bad men had Daniel thrown into the lions’ den.

The children enjoyed hearing about how the wild lions were tamed by an angel and Daniel lived to see his enemies thrown into the lion pit instead. In our prayers, we thanked God for this story of a good man who set us all a good example of regular praying. We used the percussion instruments to accompany our singing of ‘Roar said the lions in the prison’ to the tune of ‘What shall we do with the drunken sailor?’ and ‘Daniel was a man of prayer’ to the tune of ‘London Bridge is falling down’.

At craft time the children and helpers decorated some lion masks and were very pleased with the results which looked quite scary.

Tots’ Praise is open to babies and pre-school children from the Benefice with their Mummies, grandparents or carers. Our next session will be held on Tuesday 13th June at 2pm in Whixley Village Hall. Please contact Revd Joan Roper (01423 331661) for more information.
