It’s bonfire time again! The annual village bonfire with spectacular fireworks will be behind the village hall on Saturday 3rd November. It’s said that this is one of the best displays in the district. Everyone’s welcome and it’s free, if you want it to be. Food will be available from 6pm. The bonfire will be lit at 6.40 with fireworks at 7pm prompt. As always it will be a highly professional display.
We raise most of the money for this from a house-to-house collection. We’ll be visiting every house in the village during the 2 weeks before bonfire night – Please give generously; This year we’ll be spending over £2,000 on fireworks, bonfire and insurance so please be as generous as you can.
It’s far cheaper than buying your own fireworks and it’s safer!
Food will be available from 6pm – as good as always (and cheap) – hot pot, hot dogs, baked potatoes, parkin, toffee apples and loads of other good things.
Help!! – It takes a considerable amount of hard work by many people to make this happen – collecting, building & clearing the fire, preparing and selling the food. It’s fun and very much appreciated by the community. If you’d like to help in any way, please contact Rick on 331477 or Steve and Dee on 330639.
Safety – to keep the fire to a reasonable size, we are unable to accept any material for the bonfire. North Yorkshire Fire service recommends that children under the age of 5 should not be given sparklers.
