Guidance
1.0 Please give me space’ badges
The Government has provided social distancing cards and badges available to download for people who have difficulties or concerns in maintaining social distancing. If you know of someone who may need them, download here.
2.0 Government Information on Face coverings
Information on when to wear a face covering and how to make your own can be found here . You will also find on this page a printable ‘exemption from face covering badge and card’, that might be helpful for people to show if challenged. Please share this information with individuals and carers, it may help their confidence and other people’s understanding.
3.0. Government guidance for community centres, village halls, and other multi-use community facilities
Updated in line with the latest advice, this Government guidance is for community centres, village halls, and other multi-use community facilities.
This guidance sets out:
- Core principles for safely reopening community facilities
- Permitted activities in multi-use community facilities: signposting to relevant guidance
- Enforcement
4.0 The National Child Mortality Database (NCMD)
Have launched a new section of their website, www.ncmd.info/safety-notices where safety notices will be published on a regular basis. Designed to highlight key risks posed to babies and children, the section has been designed for professionals supporting families to have a one-stop place where they can go to see the latest safety updates, and obtain information on what to do to mitigate those risks.
*Face masks (COVID-19)
Face masks are NOT considered to be suitable for young children and babies, and can pose a danger to life – it is particularly relevant to share this information during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Funding Opportunities
5.0 The Two Ridings Coronavirus Community Fund
This has re-opened, for Phase three (Recovery) grants.

6.0 The final round of the National Lotteries, Covid-19 Community-Led Organisations Recovery Scheme
Is open, grants for up to £100,000 are available. Guidance can be found here
7.0 The Dairy Response Fund 2020
Provides support to eligible dairy farmers in England who produce cows’ milk. They can apply for a one-off payment. Closing date for applications is the 11th September 2020. Further information is available here
Mental Health and Wellbeing
8.0 Government Guidance on Mental Health and Wellbeing
Government guidance for the public on mental health and wellbeing has recently been released in a number of alternative languages. Added translated documents include Arabic, Bengali, Chinese CN, Chinese HK, French, Gujarati, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi and Urdu. All of the guidance, included easy read.
9.0 Switch emotional health and wellbeing for children
Switch is a programme created for 8-11 year olds designed to help children develop their social and emotional health and wellbeing. This programme has been recreated to be delivered virtually using Skype in small groups for 6 sessions with 2 professionals.

10.0 Child and Family Bereavement Support page on the NYSCP website – https://www.safeguardingchildren.co.uk/parents-carers/bereavement/.
The support page can be found either by the direct link above or under the parents and carers tab on the website.
The aim of the page is to assist children, parents, carers and their families in accessing information and support when they are bereaved by the death of a child or a child is bereaved by the loss of somebody close in their lives.
11. Money & Benefits Advice Service North Yorkshire
Local Citizens Advice offices across North Yorkshire have together launched a new helpline to meet the additional demand generated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
You can call the helpline if you need support with:
benefit entitlement, claims and appeals
accessing other income such as charitable and statutory grants
managing your money and making it go further
help with debts
finding out what other support services are available
The number to call is 0300 3031 598 Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm (or you can leave a voicemail outside these times).
The service sits alongside all the normal advice services Citizens Advice offer locally.
