The annual 5k/10k run made its return this year after a year’s break for the pandemic.  100 runners took part in the 2 races with the winning time for the 10k race being 38 minutes 13 seconds by Paul Peacock from Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers. A massive thank you to Jill and Paul Watkins-Wright who organise this event every year as a fundraiser for the village hall and to our sponsors including:

Morrison’s Boroughbridge
Voakes pies
Tancred farm shop
Davines hair products
Watkins Wright hair
Whixley village shop
Country Products Ltd (Mark Leather)

An army of volunteer helpers prepared the hall for the event, and the wonderful ladies of Whixley led by Clare, Dee, Gloria and Margaret made sure that everyone was fed and watered during the event. Many other volunteers marshalled the course and thanks in particular to our tail end Charlie, Jill’s sister Caroline and brother in law Mark, and Dave who led the way round on his off-road motorcycle.

Below is a slideshow of some pictures from the event including the winners of each race.
