We had hoped to be able to hold a Remembrance Service in church this Sunday but very much regret that owing to the latest lockdown restrictions this cannot go ahead.
The poppy wreath will be laid at the War Memorial in Whixley on Sunday by a member of our community but our usual gathering there will not take place. Enid Fisher, the Church Warden, has a small number of wooden poppy crosses to place at the War Memorial – please contact her if you would like one (331031). The War Memorial is always open so you can visit at any time.
We hope that all those who wish to will step outside their front doors or gates and mark the two minute silence at 11am this Sunday 8 November .
There will be a zoom Benefice Remembrance Service at 10.30am, please contact
Rev Sarah Feaster, Enid Fisher, Barry Atkinson or George Rowden for the link. This service will break at 10.55 to allow you to join the nationwide two minute silence and resume at 11.05am.
In this way we may all show our respect whilst staying safe.
Clare Beckett, Whixley Parish Council and Enid Fisher, Church Warden
