The churches and village halls in Whixley and Green Hammerton, plus the Green Hammerton school have joined with the churches, village halls and schools in Great and Little Ouseburn and Marton cum Grafton to develop an application for funding from the Rural Community Energy Fund. A 1st stage grant of up to £40,000 is available to undertake a feasibility study into the application of renewable energy to the above buildings, with a 2nd stage grant of £100,000 for a more detailed study available for those projects deemed likely to go to installation. The submission date for the application is currently the 1st May, although this may change.
Community support of such schemes is a key element in achieving a successful application. A small team is being assembled to prepare the application and a person with project engineering experience is being sought to join the team. If you are interested please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
