Whixley Parish Council
The following article concerns leaflets which you may find placed on your vehicle.
The Parish Council are placing this leaflet on your vehicle as a request to ask you to park your vehicle considerately and safely for the benefit of everyone.
Parking on the pavement can obstruct and seriously inconvenience pedestrians, people in wheelchairs/ with visual impairments and people with prams or pushchairs.
We all lead very busy lives today and, in our haste, will often do something without considering the effect it has on someone else.
Please do not park your car on the pavement
Consider other road users when parking on the public highway
Please park in your garage or driveway whenever possible
It costs the council thousands of pounds to maintain pavements and grass verges that have been damaged by vehicles parking on them.
Driving on the verge or footway except over a properly constructed vehicle crossover is also a road traffic offence. Obstructing the verge or footway can amount to a criminal offence if the passage of pedestrians or wheelchair users is significantly impeded.
