Parish Council Update

Dear All

The Parish Council received the update below from Cllr Arnold Warneken regarding the application below:

26/03829/PIP Land off High Street Whixley

The Local Planning Authority have advised me the site is within the Whixley Conservation Area wherein the LPA have a statutory duty under Section 72(1) of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 (the Act) to pay special attention to the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of the area.

The proposal would involve the construction of up to five market dwellings within an identified Important Open Space within the CA, as shown on the Conservation Appraisal. The Appraisal notes that we should “retain the important open spaces shown on the Concept Map”. Development of the site would therefore, in-principle, result in a degree of harm to the Whixley Conservation Area, which would be at a minimum less than substantial harm.

This has prompted the applicant to withdraw

We wait to see whether a further application will be made. The full Conservation Area appraisal can be read on the village website.

Our next parish council meeting will be on Tuesday 15 September at 7.30pm in the Community Lounge at the rear of the village hall. The agenda will be on the village website and village notice boards.

All the best

Clare Beckett
