Whixley WI Summer Outing.
The ladies of Whixley WI enjoyed a social evening out on 2nd July instead of our usual monthly meeting at Whixley Village Hall. We had a good turnout of members, and we enjoyed a delicious meal at Sweet Basil Restaurant in Kirk Hammerton. Lots of lovely Chinese and Thai food was savoured, as well as a few glasses of wine and green tea to accompany it. We also celebrated the recent “big” Birthday of our long-time secretary Sue Bailey.
Visit to Goldsborough WI
On Thursday 4th July a small group of 5 Whixley WI members (and one husband) visited Goldsborough WI after being invited to join them for a presentation on the wildlife living in the Nidd Gorge. The meeting was held in Goldsborough Church and proved very interesting and informative, with lots of lovely photos and videos recording the daily lives of the local wildlife including badgers, birds of all sizes, foxes and even otters! We were given a very warm welcome, along with a cup of tea and delicious biscuits. Just one example of the many invitations we receive as a WI.
