October has been a busy month for Whixley WI.
At our monthly meeting on 1st October we were treated to a very interesting evening with Sarah Haynes, an experienced beekeeper who is a senior honey judge at The Great Yorkshire Show. Sarah is currently undergoing training in Italy for a unique role – to be a honey sommelier. She is training with bee and honey experts from across the world, and gave us some interesting insights into pairing honey with food. We were able to make our own rolled candles and ended up with some interesting colour combinations!
On the 16th October we held our annual Soup and Sweet event at the Village Hall. People came from far and wide. The event was well supported by members of other WIs within our area, and also by residents of Whixley. The dessert table once again proved irresistible. Thanks to the WI members who gave up their time to make soup and desserts at their own expense.
