Hip, Hip, Hooray.
Last Sunday the Church of the Ascension bells rang out for morning service, for the first time since Covid closed our churches for worship. By the time restrictions were lifted the ringing team had lost members and its leader David had moved to Nottingham.
We have been very fortunate that Janine, from Knaresborough, who helped before, and is an enthusiastic teacher and ringer, was determined to bring our bells back to life. In the last year, with Barrie, she has formed a team of five ringers, Jess, Anne, Lisa, Bren and Ian from our Benefice and has brought them to a level where they are confident to ring for services and weddings.
This has meant a lot of dedication to practice by everyone involved. We church- goers and the rest of the village owe them our heartfelt thanks for restoring this precious part of village life.
