The Whixley Village Hall committee has created a local lottery, to be called The Big Ball Game, as part of its efforts to raise much-needed funds in support of Building for the Future….ensuring that the Village Hall is sustainable for future generations. The Big Ball Game will operate as follows:

Members of the public, (only over 18s), mainly but not exclusively Whixley residents, will be invited to purchase a numbered ball, initially between 1 and 200, but with the capacity for more should demand be great enough. Individuals can buy their own lucky number if available at the time of their purchase.

Each month 3 balls will be drawn out of the “hat” in order to find the lucky winners and will each be awarded a monetary prize, calculated as a proportion of the prize pot.

The draw will run each month from September to June (10 months) with a break in July and August and take place at Neighbours Night in The Anchor on the last Thursday of the month.

The cost is £20.00 per numbered ball and this ball will be entered into all 10 draws…no matter how many times it is a winner! Balls must be purchased prior to the first draw on September 28th if entry into all 10 draws is wanted.

When the draw takes place all purchased balls will be put into the “hat” and a random draw made. The stake money will be split 60% to the Village Hall and 40% paid out in prize money. Thus if 100 balls are sold ( that would give £80.00 per draw as total prize money) the winner will receive £50, second prize would be £20.00 and the third prize £10.

All lucky winners to be notified by Tim Procter and paid electronically (bank transfer) via Village Hall Treasurer

If a member joins the Big Ball Game after September then he/she will only pay for the remaining months to the following June. i.e. A joiner in December would pay for 7 months (£14).

Should more members than 200 wish to join the Big Ball Game then the scheme will be expanded to accommodate the larger number and the prize pot will be proportionately larger.

The numbered balls available for sale, and sold, are shown HERE. The winning balls from prior draws will be published HERE.

Balls may be purchased online via the village website online shop. Click this link

All Balls sold will expire on July 1st each year, and members will be notified so they can re-buy their number(s) for the following year. Any numbers not re-bought will be available for sale to new members for the following year.
