The Garden Club welcomes everyone from all villages to join our meetings, no previous gardening experience or knowledge is required. The format of the meeting is a guest speaker, covering a wide range of topics to appeal to all, speaking for about one hour, followed by questions from the audience. Refreshments are then served for those who wish to stay for a chat afterwards. We meet once a month in Kirk Hammerton Village Hall and in the summer months visits to gardens are organised. The club is a friendly, welcoming group, actively seeking new members; so why not give us a try one evening?

At our next meeting on Tuesday March 26th we look forward to Suzie Rush, from Kilburn; ‘Picked at Dawn – A brief glimpse into my flora world’. Suzie will give an introduction into the industry of being a farmer/florist, share details of how she grows her flowers, her favourite plants for cut flowers and illustrations of her creations. She will be bringing examples of flowers and cutflower plug plants to sell at the end of the talk. The meeting starts at 7.30pm but this is preceded by the AGM at 7.15pm. Non-members are invited to arrive at 7.30pm for the talk whilst members are encouraged to attend the AGM at 7.15pm.

The club is holding its biennial Plant and Produce Stall, with refreshments on Saturday May 18th, 9.30-12.30. If you are splitting plants, taking cuttings, growing from seed (flowers or vegetables) or making e.g. marmalade, we would be very grateful for any contributions to the stall.

A reminder that annual subscriptions will be taken at the March meeting, at £20 for the year. Anyone who wishes to join us for this evening only, may do so, for only £3.
