FRIDAY 14th June – Film Club

The next Whixley Film club night will be on Friday June 14th at 8:00pm in the Village Hall when will be showing Bridge of Spies. Bridge of Spies is a 2015 historical drama film directed and co-produced by Steven Spielberg, written by Matt Charman, Ethan and Joel Coen and stars Tom Hanks, Mark Rylance, Amy Ryan, and Alan Alda. Set during the Cold War, the film tells the story of lawyer James B. Donovan, who is entrusted with negotiating the release of Francis Gary Powers—a U.S. Air Force pilot whose U-2 spy plane was shot down over the Soviet Union in 1960—in exchange for Rudolf Abel, a convicted Soviet KGB spy held under the custody of the United States, whom he represented at trial. The name of the film refers to the Glienicke Bridge.

Members of the film club may find out what we’re showing in the future by CLICKING HERE. If you’re interested in coming along please join the film club (there is a form on the web site HERE), or simply turn up on the night where you can join if you wish or make a donation for the one showing (our licence does not allow us to specify a charge for entry to our film showings).

Don’t forget that on Whixley film club nights there is a full bar in operation as well as other refreshments. We normally have an interval during the film to give you a chance to refresh your drinks, and feel free to bring along cushions, bean bags or whatever additional items you need to sit comfortably.

Normally film nights will be held on the second Friday of each month, but may be varied so keep an eye on the website and email newsletters for up-to-date information.
