Dear Friend and Neighbour

We are pleased to share with you, and everyone in the parish, our long-awaited drawings and plans for the transformation of the church building into a more-user-friendly community space that will be a lasting commemoration of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, that we have all recently joyfully celebrated with a host of memorable community events.

The planned enhancements to the church-building will enable it to become a real community asset by the addition of toilet and refreshment facilities, that will enable it to become much more usable for a wider range of events and celebrations, such as musical and choral concerts, organ recitals, educational films and lectures, school-visits, historical and heritage exhibitions, in addition to flower festivals, marriages, funerals (including post-funeral refreshments) , christenings, harvest suppers, and other associated celebrations.

At the same time the improved facilities will be a significant and lasting commemoration of our Queen’s seventy years of service to Country and Commonwealth in this her Platinum Jubilee. Together, we shall be proud to create a lasting tribute to Her Majesty by marking for perpetuity this much-needed enhancement to the village’s oldest heritage-building which has seen many changes, transformations, and ‘modernisations’ over nigh on a thousand years.

Project Plan: Showing new toilet, new ramp (offering access for the disabled), new location for the Font and location of the new refreshment facility below the west window.

We are attaching drawings which show the layout of the present church interior (tower area) and the proposed changes. To enable members of the community see at first-hand more detailed plans, a Consultation Meeting on site is proposed, so that all interested parties can ask questions and exchange thoughts and ideas, prior to the finalisation of our plans.

We would invite all interested villagers to express their desire to attend this Open Forum by emailing Barry Atkinson: cobblecottage@outlook.com so that we can arrange a convenient date for as many folk as possible. This meeting will enable you to meet the Project Group and for them to hear your thoughts and ideas, so that together, we can work out how best the community’s needs might be served for this and future generations. See the image above for an overview of the plan

Please accept our thanks, in anticipation, for indicating your interest in this Jubilee Commemoration Project, and for indicating your desire to attend the Open Forum by emailing cobblecottage@outlook.com before 30 June

Yours sincerely

Simon Gardner
