Brief Background
Ian graduated from the University of East Anglia in 1969 with a degree in Mathematics with Physics.
He has had an extensive career, initially in the IT industry from the early days of computing, working for two US computer companies before founding his own IT company, which grew rapidly before being sold in the 1990’s.
Ian then pursued a career in private equity—investing in small technology companies, taking board seats, and becoming chairman of many of them. This led to the formation of a small venture capital firm, The Viking Fund, where he served as Chairman, making numerous investments in early-stage technology and natural resource companies.
In the 15 years leading up to his retirement in 2012, Ian was involved in the financing and development of several companies, taking multiple businesses onto the AIM market and one onto NASDAQ.
Despite retiring, Ian maintains a keen interest in computer developments and actively explores the use of AI to enhance features for the village website. He also manages the technology infrastructure for the Village Hall.
