Do you live in Whixley and have a primary school aged child? When they go to secondary school, are you expecting their bus to be free? If so, you should read this.
North Yorkshire Council (NYC) are changing their school transport policy which could mean you will have to pay to get your child to school, that could be about £800 per year per child. Boroughbridge High School is the catchment school for the village but NYC will now only pay for transport to the NEAREST school.
To find out your nearest school, according to NYC, follow this link https://forms.northyorks.gov.uk/service/find_your_nearest_school. They will only use their own official calculation, not your own Google maps calculation.
A lobbying group has been set up by concerned parents in the Reeth area. They have invited anyone to get in touch with them for more information and support: gaylesparish@gmail.com
