Harrogate Borough Council Parish Consultation Meeting

Cllrs Beckett and Bailey attended the annual Parish Consultation Meeting convened by Harrogate Borough Council and open to all parish councils in the Harrogate district on Thursday 28 June.

Chaired by the deputy leader of HBC Cllr Graham Swift, the meeting gave an overview of all that has happened in the past year, and answered questions from Parish Councils. These questions are sent in prior to the meeting.  We also heard about ‘Prevent’ Training – which seeks to prevent radicalisation.

In view of all that is happening locally with the Harrogate Development Plan Whixley Parish Council feel it is important that Harrogate Borough Council Cabinet members know who we are. It was a good opportunity for us to have an informal talk and allowed us to make them fully aware of how people are feeling in Whixley.  We were disappointed not to see any Parish councillors from nearby villages at the meeting.  We have invited HBC to hold next year’s meeting at Whixley Village Hall.
