Whixley and Green Hammerton Parish Dine Around, Saturday 22nd June 2024

The dine-around, also known as a safari supper, is a type of social gathering where participants move from one house to another for each course of the meal.

The fun part is that none of the hosts or guests know where they are going or who they are meeting until they turn up for prosecco and canapes at The Old Vicarage, Whixley where they receive an envelope containing the names and addresses.

Once participants have enjoyed two courses in separate homes, they make their way to Whixley village hall for pudding.

How does it work?

Everyone purchases a ticket for £15 which goes towards The Whixley QE2 Commemoration Project (formerly the Jubiloo project).

Every host household agrees to provide either a starter or main course for 6-8 people. For those unable to host, there are options to provide canapes for 30 people or pudding for 10 people.

Hosts don’t need to be couples! One person can host or team up with a friend.

What to cook?

This event is not about cooking gourmet food, it’s about getting to know new and existing residents in our parish and raising valuable funds.

In terms of food preparation, you may wish to serve something that is not time-sensitive in case the timings slip as the evening progresses.
