The Harrogate district – Get Digital project aims to create a network of digital champions to help residents across the district upskill with digital technology.  Over the last 18 months we have signed up 41 digital champions from within the Council and within local partner organisations to provide valuable 1-2-1 digital support to their clients. When the project first began we hoped that the champions would meet their client needing digital support in person, obviously the pandemic has meant this is no longer feasible or safe. Our digital champions are therefore providing digital help via telephone instruction.

Since the start of the project we have worked with Digital Unite who have provided a platform of training resources for our champions to access. As the project has developed we have been able to recruit a number of resident volunteers, these volunteers have since been trained by Digital Unite and also been subject to a DBS check for security. As a result with the support of Digital Unite a ‘digital helpline’ has been made available for anyone in North Yorkshire who is lacking in digital skills.  The helpline can help with things like setting email address, how to download Apps, how to use Zoom, how to connect a printer, how to set a phone up, how to research on the internet etc. Please note It is not a tech support line.

I have attached their poster and ask you promote this amongst you contacts, clients, friends and family
