North Yorkshire Trading Standards have received reports in the Harrogate area of doorstep traders selling fish. A local resident was cold called at approximately 2pm yesterday, Friday 2nd April by fish sellers. One male was knocking on doors while the other male was driving a vehicle which is described as a white van. The consumer ended up purchasing two packets of fish for £30.00, however once the fish-sellers had departed the consumer opened the fish and describes this as not fresh and full of bones; the consumer was told it would have no bones. Of more concern however is that the fish-sellers at no point observed the social distancing two metre rule and the consumer had to keep standing back. Fish sellers has been a regular problem in the North Yorkshire area where intimidation is used to force the consumer to purchase large quantities of fish thay do not want nor are able to store or eat. Please report any suspicious activity in this respect to North Yorkshire Trading Standards on 0808 223 1133 or the police on 101
