News has reached us that the Westwick Group, owners of the Aldwark Toll Bridge, are about to raise the price of crossing the bridge from 40p to 80p for a one-way trip. Although we assume that bulk ticket purchases will still be available, Newton-on-Ouse residents are rightly concerned about the increase, and the chair of the Parish Council has written to the owners expressing their concern at the size of the increase while recognising that the price has stayed the same for several years and therefore a modest increase would be justified.
