Today parish churches, chapels and cathedrals are being encouraged to toll their bells at noon following yesterday’s sad announcement of the death of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Bells will accordingly be tolled in Whixley and Green Hammerton and our churches will remain open 24/7 for private prayers and reflection.  There will also be a book of condolence.

Today (Friday) from noon for one hour and tomorrow, there will be the opportunity to come into Whixley church and perhaps light a candle in memory of the Queen. On Sunday, there will be our usual 9am service of Holy Communion which is, as always, open to anyone who wishes to attend. I’m sure Queen Elizabeth and her family will be at the forefront of our thoughts at this time.

Every blessing

Revd Joan
